BUILDING BLOCKS OF FAITH
2 Peter 1:5-7
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
Personal Challenge
Our journey to eternal life with our Lord starts with our faith in Him. But it does not stop there. That is just the beginning. Our lives should be changed by Him to be living more in His image and continuing to change until the day that we die. Peter gives us some building blocks that can help our faith to grow. We begin by pursuing virtue, doing the right things for God. We add to that knowledge, knowledge about God, who He is, and what He desires of us. We continue our growth by exercising self-control based on that knowledge. Next comes perseverance, for as we grow in the image of God others will begin to persecute us. Based on that perseverance, we add the godliness that God bestows on us. With this foundation in place we can add brotherly kindness topping it off with love. This is a journey worth embarking upon. Glory be to God!
