WEEPING

Matthew 2:18

“A voice was heard in Ramah,
Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted,
Because they are no more.”

Personal Challenge

The nation of Israel spent their entire history up to the advent of Jesus Christ looking anxiously for their Messiah to come. In their eyes, it would be a glorious event filed with joy. And yet, we see in this account of what Herod did to the infants and toddlers in order to squelch the arrival of a competing King, nothing but lamentation, weeping, and mourning. Jesus knew of suffering and hardship. He identified with people then just as He does today. It is only through a relationship with, the King of Peace that we will overcome the lamentation, weeping, and mourning in our lives. Glory be to God!
