BEING LIKE-MINDED
Philippians 2:1-4
Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Personal challenge
Contrary to popular belief in our modern Christian church, Christianity is not just about our own "personal" relationship with Christ. Granted, He died for each and every one of us, and we must each enter into a personal relationship with Him, but the personal-ness stops there. Our salvation is worked out, or manifested, in a community, our body of believers that God surrounds us with. It is in that community that we are to be like-minded with each other, have the same love for God and each other in, and be of one mind and accord in the work of God that He has given us. There really is no room for the individualist, the selfish ambition that proliferates the world, or the mindset that we are better than everyone else around us. Being a Christian is about being in Christ and not of the world. Glory be to God!
